BEEFLEXIBLE is a guide and resource for foodservice professionals about beef. The app aims to educate foodservice professionals on a variety of topics including, antibiotic, hormones and growth promotant use in raising cattle; grain-finished vs. grass-finished beef production; global warming and the beef community’s impact on it; Meatless Mondays; what efforts the beef community makes towards environmental stewardship; beef safety and inspection; and the 29 lean beef cuts. In addition to these subject areas, there are also PDF resources available to view, share, or to order from the California Beef Council (CBC). Some of these resources include a beef foodservice cuts chart, a marbling guide, degrees of doneness chart, dry aging vs. wet aging information, quality and yield grading facts, as well as beef cutting videos. There is also a beef cuts section included in the app that provides images, NAMP numbers and cut descriptions for the foodservice beef cuts. This section is searchable by primal, cut type or by directly inputting a cut name or NAMP number into a search engine box. You can connect directly with the California Beef Council through the app and the California Beef Council will soon be able to send you messages through the upcoming Inbox feature.
